Student Assistance Specialist (2)
Elementary Level
Work year/day School Calendar/185 Days (2020/21 School Year)
*****Work Hours: 6 ¼ hours per day including ½ hour unpaid lunch. Consistent with applicable
Building; May be modified/flexed by building
Principal, including the option of afternoon or
Evening meetings.
Salary $40,000
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified or licensed as a counselor or social worker (preferred).
- Background/experience in counseling or social work (required).
- Experience with middle school-aged youth.
- Such other qualifications as may be identified.
Sample Duties:
- Identify at-risk students.
- Develop individual and small group sessions for academic intervention and discipline prevention.
- Develop behavior plans.
- Monitor student attendance, discipline, and academic progress.
- Meet with parents and staff regarding intervention plans and progress.
- Work to develop school/community partnerships with outside organizations that support at-risk youth.
- Work with and enhance existing mentoring program for at-risk youth at school.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the building principal.
This assignment will be filled for the 2020/2021 school year. Continuation of the position will be contingent on the availability of future grant funding.
