Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Interest in working with students including handicapped and/or disadvantaged in Building Trades.
- A minimum of two years occupational experience in Building Trades or an associate degree in Building Trades and one year of occupational experience in Building Trades.
- In addition to work experience the successful candidate must demonstrate competence in the technical and academic areas of building construction.
- Must be able to function as a team member.
- Must be able to provide work-related references.
- An excellent work/school attendance record.
- Successful completion of interview.
Duties/responsibilities:
- Assisting the teacher during the lesson by helping students who may be having difficulty in understanding or in keeping up with the class.
- Supplementing instruction such as assisting the teacher by working with individuals or small groups of students.
- Reinforcing instruction.
- Providing math, reading, and writing support for academic and technical instruction.
- Assisting students with the proper use, care and operation of tools and equipment in the classroom.
- Helping the vocational teacher with the testing or evaluation activities.
- Assisting the vocational teacher with clerical duties such as record keeping, correspondence, filing, and other paperwork required by the teacher.
- Assisting the vocational teacher with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of instructional subject matter and/or related activities.
- Assisting the vocational and/or special populations staff with the counseling or guidance of the students.
- Facilitating communication between students with their parents under the direction of the teacher.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
