Girl’s JV Softball Head Coach
Start Date: March 10, 2025
End Date: June 1, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate young people and adults.
- Reliably available for practices and contests as scheduled.
- Evidence of basic knowledge of conditioning.
- Ability to motivate students and individualize instruction.
- Record of punctuality and good attendance.
- Ability to maintain discipline, morale, and cooperation.
- Demonstrated successful leadership.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with parents, volunteers, and community
- Ability to work cooperatively with other athletic staff, school administrators, and the Athletic Director.
- Demonstrated flexibility and reliability.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory and care of team uniforms and equipment.
- Knowledge and ability to teach techniques and fundamentals of the sport coached at the appropriate level.
- Enthusiasm for the sport
- Satisfactory evaluations on previous coaching assignments.
- CPR certificate required for all head varsity coaches.
- Knowledge of basic fundamentals of the sport as evidenced by:
- Training or instruction and/or
- Playing experience at the secondary level or higher and/or
- Previous successful coaching experience at the secondary level or above
PREFERRED
- Valid teaching certificate.
- W.S.I., first aid or CPR certificate where applicable.
DESIRABLE BUT NOT REQUIRED
- Assignment within the building where the coaching occurs.
- Recent attendance at conferences or workshops dealing with the sport to be coached.
- Completed PACE Level I & Level II or CAP Level I & II.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instruct student-athletes in the fundamental strategies of athletics and facilitate pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
- Promoting academics as a major priority.
- Communicate positively and effectively with athletes, coaching staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, community members, and opposing team.
- Develop and supervise a regular schedule of practicing, training, and participation at contests.
- Always enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behaviors and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Oversee and be accountable for safety conditions involving students and facilities.
- Maintain necessary attendance forms and other paperwork required by the Athletic Director
- Maintain accurate inventory and care of team uniforms and equipment including distribution and collection.
- Attending Michigan High School Athletic Association required rule meetings or pass the competency test prior to the beginning of the coaching season.
- Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property.
- Be responsive to instructions and directions of the Athletic Director and other appropriate school
- Organize and direct fundraising activities, ensuring compliance with district fundraising bylaws.
- Attend Roseville Athletic Director meetings for coaches prior to the start of the season.
- Perform duties which may be assigned by the Varsity Head Coach, Athletic Director and Building Principal in connection with the sport.
